3D Design - Sculptures

  Description:  3D Design was a lot of fun because everyone's project looked very different. For the creation of our sculptures, we started by drawing two bases on our small pieces of paper. Then, we also drew 3-5 more abstract shapes on our large piece of paper.  The next couple of steps were more tedious. We had to cut out each of the pieces that were drawn and then trace the edges of these shapes with a black Sharpie. Outlining the edges took up quite a bit of time because we had to do it on both sides of the shapes. Once these steps were complete, we were able to design each of the piece how we wanted to using at least two different colors of our choice. I used a lot of lines and random shapes and designs in my pieces.  Extension:  Another 3D design activity that I've seen that I think would be super fun to do in upper elementary classrooms is to have your students create art using wire.
