Elements and Principles of Art - Photos

Emphasis/Focal Point-
This picture is one that I took this past summer while camping in Banff National Park. I chose this picture to represent emphasis and focal point. In the picture, you can see that the main focal point is on the hot chocolate, and the elements in the background are more blurred and unfocused.
Movement-
This is another picture that I took on the same trip to Canada. The ground squirrel was approaching us to try and steal some snacks. He became very brave and jumped towards the bag of crackers. This is the image that I selected to show movement because you can see the squirrel is in mid-air as he jumps towards the bag of snacks.

Color-
In high school, I completed a lesson about healthy eating to some of the lower elementary classes. Our main point of the lesson taught the students to "eat the rainbow" This is a picture that I had of the healthy snacks that were offered to the students after the completion of the lesson. I chose this image to represent color because it shows several colors of the rainbow and is bright.
Space (Depth of Field)-
This is a picture of my little sister taking her senior pictures this past August. I selected this photo as my example of space and depth of field. I further explained how you could tell that the photographer was closer because of her size compared to my sister who is much smaller in the background.

Value (Light & Dark)-
This is an image of my roommate's closet. I chose to use this as a representation of value. This shows value through the several different shades of red that are seem in this section of her closet.
