2-D Design - Habitats
Description: For this project, we were to pick a habitat of our choice and create an image of what the habitat may look like. We needed to include at least three different layers in our habitat.
I chose to create a desert habitat for my project. I included several layers of paper as well as different elements including a cactus, sunset, rock formations, dead tree, sand, and a small bird. These are all things that remind me of the dry desert habitat.
To finish up the 2-D project, we wrote a sentence about our habitat on the bottom of the frame. My sentence states: The desert is hot and dry.
Extension: Another 2-D activity that would be fun to complete with your class is creating a similar model, but for the different layers of the earth. You could use a different color to represent the core, mantle, crust, and atmosphere. It would be a good way for your students to be able to visualize each of these layers.
