Introduction Footprint
This footprint activity gave me the opportunity to introduce myself through several different images and symbols. It illustrates a few of my favorite things to do, influential people in my life, and other important aspects in my life. After the completion of this project, each individual had the opportunity to share with the class what they've included on their footprint and why.
Here are a few of the things that I chose to include:
- flowers - shows my love for gardening and plants
- apple, crayons, & smiley face - shows my love for working with children and my journey becoming an Elementary and Special Education major
- NSU logo - where I got my undergraduate degrees!
- airplane - shows my love for traveling and exploring
- mountain range - shows my love for hiking and nature
- images: my boyfriend and my family - shows a few of the most influential and supporting people in my life
- Bible verse & cross - shows the importance of my faith
Another introduction activity that I found and thought would be fun to complete is a back to school dice game. In small groups, your students will take turns rolling a dice. Depending on the number that they roll, they will share with the group.
1- tell us something about yourself (likes, dislikes, characterizes, etc.)
2- tell us something about your home (family, pets, house)
3- tell us something you did this summer
4- tell us something about one of your friends
5- tell us something you like to do in your free time
6- tell us something you are excited about this school year
After each child gets to roll and share once or twice, have each kid share with the entire group about something new they learned about someone else in their group. This makes sure that they are listening to their peers and learning about their lives. This is an activity that I would use sporadically throughout the first couple weeks of school. Each time I would make sure that all of my students get placed into groups with new people.
